Job Summary:

Super Micro Computer, Inc. is seeking a seasoned Director, Global Trade Compliance based in Taiwan to lead and support the company’s global export compliance program across Asia and worldwide operations. This role will serve as a senior leader within the Global Trade Compliance organization, partnering closely with U.S. headquarters, regional business teams, manufacturing operations, supply chain, engineering, logistics, and executive leadership to support Supermicro’s rapid growth in AI, high-performance computing, cloud infrastructure, and advanced semiconductor technologies.

The Director, Global Trade Compliance will provide strategic and operational leadership for export controls, customs and sanctions compliance, licensing, due diligence, and risk management activities impacting global sales, manufacturing, and supply chain operations, with particular focus on Asia-based operations, contract manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, and data center deployments.

This position requires deep expertise in U.S. export controls, strong understanding of Taiwan and Asia-Pacific operational environments, executive communication skills, and the ability to build scalable compliance processes in a fast-paced global technology company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Regional & Global Export Compliance Leadership
•    Lead day-to-day export compliance operations and strategic initiatives supporting Taiwan and Asia-Pacific business activities within Supermicro’s global trade compliance framework.
•    Serve as a senior export compliance advisor to Taiwan-based business teams, manufacturing operations, supply chain, engineering, logistics, and sales organizations.
•    Support executive leadership on export control risk, geopolitical developments, enforcement trends, licensing strategy, and operational impacts associated with evolving global regulations.
Export Controls, Licensing & Sanctions Oversight
•    Ensure compliance with U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), OFAC sanctions, anti-boycott regulations, and applicable international export control requirements impacting Supermicro’s global operations.
•    Oversee export classifications, licensing determinations, technology controls, and restricted party screening activities related to AI accelerators, GPUs, advanced semiconductors, servers, encryption items, and cloud-enabled systems.
•    Support and manage export licensing strategy, license applications, license exceptions, and regulatory interpretations involving U.S.–China and other sensitive jurisdiction controls.
•    Provide guidance on deemed exports, technology transfers, end-use/end-user reviews, and supply chain risk mitigation.

Customs Compliance & Global Trade Operations

•    Support global customs compliance activities across Supermicro’s manufacturing, supply chain, and distribution operations.

•    Ensure compliance with customs regulations, including tariff classification, valuation, country of origin, import/export documentation, and trade requirements.

•    Partner with Supply Chain, Logistics, Procurement, Finance, and Manufacturing teams to maintain accurate trade data and customs documentation.

•    Oversee customs-related risk management activities, including broker management, audits, post-entry corrections, and regulatory inquiries.

•    Monitor global trade developments, tariffs, and geopolitical risks impacting import and export operations.

Due Diligence, Risk Management & Governance

•    Lead enhanced due diligence and Know Your Customer (KYC) reviews for high-risk transactions, customers, distributors, resellers, OEMs, and data center projects.

•    Support GPU and advanced technology transaction review processes, including escalation and risk assessments involving sensitive geographies, end users, and emerging technology applications.

•    Conduct export compliance risk assessments, monitoring, remediation activities, and internal investigations as necessary.

Manufacturing, Supply Chain & Operational Compliance

•    Partner with Taiwan manufacturing operations, suppliers, and logistics teams to ensure compliant movement of products, technology, and technical data globally.

•    Support implementation and maintenance of technology control plans, operational procedures, and export-related controls across manufacturing and engineering environments.

Training, Culture & Cross-Functional Collaboration

•    Develop and deliver export compliance training to regional stakeholders, including Sales, Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Operations teams.

Continuous Improvement & Regulatory Monitoring

•    Monitor and assess global regulatory developments, geopolitical risks, and emerging export control requirements affecting AI, semiconductors, high-performance computing, and cloud infrastructure.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

•    Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent work experience; advanced degree and/or professional certifications (e.g., CUSECO, ICA, ASCM, customs broker, legal background) preferred.

Experience

•    12+ years of progressive global trade compliance experience, including significant experience within the technology, semiconductor, electronics, server, or advanced manufacturing industries.

•    Strong experience supporting multinational operations involving Taiwan, Asia-Pacific supply chains, contract manufacturers, and global distribution networks.

•    Demonstrated expertise administering export compliance programs involving multiple global regulatory bodies including sanctions, encryption controls, and advanced technology exports.

•    Experience advising business leadership on export controls, licensing, customs, sanctions, and geopolitical risk matters.

•    Experience supporting or managing compliance reviews involving AI systems, GPUs, semiconductors, servers, cloud infrastructure, or advanced computing technologies preferred.

 

Core Competencies:

•    Expert knowledge of U.S. EAR regulations, OFAC sanctions, anti-boycott requirements, and global export compliance principles.

•    Strong understanding of operational compliance challenges within manufacturing and supply chain environments in Asia.

•    Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical business guidance and scalable operational processes.

•    Strong executive communication, judgment, and stakeholder management skills.

•    Experience with ERP systems, trade compliance screening tools, automation platforms, and data analytics.

•    Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, highly matrixed, global environment.

•    Strong English communication skills required; Mandarin language capability strongly preferred.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

•    Experience supporting global trade controls impacting AI, high-performance computing, advanced semiconductors, GPUs, and data center infrastructure.

•    Experience managing trade compliance risks involving China and other high-risk jurisdictions.

•    Experience implementing or enhancing trade compliance systems, screening tools, or ERP automation initiatives.

•    Prior experience interacting with regulators, outside counsel, auditors, or enforcement agencies.

•    Experience supporting high-growth technology companies operating in complex geopolitical environments.
