As an MLO Intern, you will join the EMEA Grain Processing Applications team and support laboratory activities related to enzymatic starch conversion processes. This position combines hands-on experimental work with the opportunity to execute your own supervised project.
Where You’ll Make a Difference
- Support daily laboratory activities related to enzymatic starch conversion processes
- Assist in executing enzyme-based processes such as liquefaction, saccharification, and fermentation (ethanol production)
- Take accurate samples during ongoing reactions and experiments
- Prepare samples for analytical techniques, including High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)
- Contribute to general lab operations and weekly planned experimental work
- Plan and conduct small-scale experiments under supervision
- Perform independent sampling, sample preparation, and basic analytical work
- Process, analyze, and document experimental data in a structured and accurate manner
What Makes You the Right Fit
- Currently enrolled in an MLO (Middelbaar Laboratoriumonderwijs) or equivalent laboratory-focused education
- Strong interest in biotechnology, enzymatic processes, or food/bioprocess applications
- Basic understanding of laboratory techniques and safety standards
- Reliable, accurate, and detail-oriented working style
- Ability to follow protocols and work in a structured laboratory environment
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills in English (written and verbal)
- Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and contribute

- Familiarity with analytical techniques such as HPLC
- Interest in fermentation processes or industrial biotechnology
- Strong organizational skills and a structured approach to documenting results
