We are seeking an experienced Head of Quality & Food Safety to lead and oversee all quality and food safety functions.
Key Responsibilities
Incoming & Outgoing Sample Inspection
Oversee pre-shipment sample evaluation, including sensory assessment and quality analysis for incoming, outgoing, type, and offer samples
Coordinate with coffee-producing origins and suppliers to ensure adherence to green coffee quality specifications
Liaise with internal stakeholders and external partners on sample approvals, shipment quality status, and related matters
Manage third-party laboratory testing and review analytical results to ensure compliance with required standards
Handle customer complaints and quality claims, ensuring proper documentation, investigation, and resolution
Lead root cause investigations and drive Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR) and preventive measures
Drive continuous improvement initiatives with origin partners to reduce shipment rejections and quality issues
Quality Management & Food Safety
Develop, implement, and continuously enhance the Quality Management System (QMS)
Monitor and uphold green coffee quality standards in collaboration with the Trade Desk and grading teams
Ensure compliance with local and international regulatory requirements, including destination-country import standards
Support third-party shippers on EUDR (EU Deforestation Regulation) documentation and compliance requirements.
Training & Capability Development
Design and deliver internal training programs on sensory evaluation, green coffee analysis, quality standards, and food safety
Foster a culture of quality excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement
Annual Reporting & Strategic Projects
Oversee the preparation of sustainability and statistical reports in line with group and regulatory requirements
Lead or support strategic quality and compliance projects as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, or a related discipline
Minimum 7 years of experience in quality and food safety within food commodities, coffee trading, or FMCG industries
Strong expertise in green coffee quality evaluation, including sensory analysis and grading practices, familiarity with roasting and brewing methods.
In-depth knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and food safety standards (e.g. HACCP, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000)
Familiarity with international regulatory requirements and import standards across key markets (e.g. EU, Asia)
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence both internal and external partners
Strong leadership experience and people management.
Experience supporting sustainability and compliance initiatives (e.g. EUDR) is an added advantage.
Willingness to travel regionally as required.
