Vietnam is a key affiliate for the global EPD division with significant growth upside. The role covers 3 distinct functions: commercial finance supporting EPD Legacy, Abbott Healthcare (Glomed) which is a commercial and manufacturing business plus local CFS (for accounting, treasury, tax) for EPD. The role also coordinates with stakeholders in DOMESCO as a publicly listed company in Vietnam.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • Develop appropriate financial strategies in accordance with EPD’s strategic objectives.
  • Provide financial counsel and analysis for proposed strategic growth initiatives.
  • Drive development and preparation of solid financial business plans (and underlying analysis) to ensure the business delivers its financial commitments.
  • Prepare periodic financial plans / updates / LBE’s in accordance with EPD Division requirements.
  • Monitor local operations performance against financial plans/updates/LBE’s and ensure management is advised on exposure issues.
  • Provide actual monthly and quarterly financial data in compliance with Area, Division and Corporate Reporting requirements.
  • Ensure integrity of financial books and records, establish and maintain a robust and compliant internal control environment for the business.
  • Summarize and communicate complex financial situations in a clear/concise manner explaining thought processes and analysis to local Management Team and Area / Division Management.
  • Support GM in key decisions and ensure responsible investment decisions.
  • Advise GM in areas of profit maximization, in-licensing/out-licensing, resource prioritization, and day-to-day operations. Anticipate market activities that can impact business. Provide economic/political scenarios.
  • Provide leadership to build, maintain and develop the Abbott Finance Organization.

Major Accountabilities

Commercial Finance lead:

  • In consultation with the other senior management, make recommendations and devise financial policy and strategy for establishing, directing and maintaining the organization’s financial and operational procedures to ensure asset protection and profit maximization.
  • Direct and co-ordinate the collection of financial information for the preparation of plans, forecasts, internal and external financial management reports according to established timelines.
  • Control and co-ordinate activities such as taxation, legal, financing, costing and expense control, preparation of audits, office administration and insurance arrangements.
  • Represent the organization in finance related dealings with the organization’s bankers, legal advisers, major customers and others as required.

People Management

  • Develop, motivate and coach the Finance team and provide guidance
  • Set and monitor targets for each individual in the team to ensure high performance management
  • Support employees in implementing of their growth plans. Develop and maintain succession plan and address future staffing issues in a proactive manner.
  • Ensure team activities to comply with Company Business Code of Conduct and all local applicable laws within scope of function responsibility.

Others

  • Co-ordinate with OEC to ensure teams activities to comply with Company Business Code of Conduct and all local applicable laws within scope of function responsibility.
  • Special projects as directed by GM.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education:  Bachelor's degree Years of experience, both overall and any industry-specific experience needed: Minimum 10 years’ experience in finance/accounting at a senior level with evident success Other qualifications/certifications:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; advanced degree (eg: MBA) preferred.
  • CPA, ACCA, CIMA recognition
  • Track record of successfully leading a team of Finance professionals

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior healthcare or pharmaceutical industry experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting techniques as well as proficiency with financial statement analysis and projection
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP
  • Meet the requirement for a commercially astute, articulate, technically strong, dynamic, insightful and influential leader with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Ability to handle high levels of pressure and critical decision-making.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, teambuilding, and problem-solving skills.
  • Skilled communicator with well-developed verbal, written and presentation ability
