Job Description

We are seeking an Associate to join our Cayman Islands Finance and Corporate team, with a focus on investment funds work. You will work within a highly regarded practice advising global asset managers, institutional investors and fund sponsors on a broad range of matters.

The role offers exposure to high-quality work across a range of fund structures and strategies, within a collaborative, partner-led team environment. You will be involved in matters spanning the full investment fund lifecycle, working in collaboration with colleagues across our international offices.

About the role

  • Drive fund formation and structuring

  • Prepare and review of key fund documentation

  • Be involved in ongoing fund and investor-related work across the lifecycle

  • Be involved in related corporate and transactional matters, including restructurings

  • Obtain clear instructions from the client/intermediary, prepare draft documents for review by a senior associate or partner, and review and provide comments on documents provided by third parties.

  • Be the main point of contact for clients on allocated matters, ensuring cost-effective and efficient handling of matters.

  • Have the opportunity to manage your own matters and assist more junior fee earners with matter management.

  • Engage in business development opportunities including participation in conferences and external training programmes, identifying potential business opportunities with new and existing clients/intermediaries with support from the rest of the team.

About you

  • Qualified lawyer admitted in a recognised common law jurisdiction

  • Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification experience

  • Background in investment funds, corporate or finance work within a recognised law firm

  • Strong drafting skills and sound technical judgement

  • Ability to manage matters effectively with appropriate supervision

  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the Cayman Islands or meet work permit requirements
