Job Description

This position has an initial appointment of one year with the possibility of extension.

Location - This role is in-person at North Campus and South Campus, Edmonton.

Position Summary

The Department of Agricultural, Food and Nutritional Science in the Faculty of Agricultural, Life and Environmental Science is looking for a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow to work with Dr. Ruurd Zijlstra, Professor in Swine & Carbohydrate Nutrition. Research in the group is focused on starch and fiber nutrition and feedstuff characterization and development. 

  • Responsible for qualitative and statistical analysis of research data and communicating this information to the PI
  • Works with a high degree of independence and follows research directions developed by the PI
  • Develops and performs experiments/analyses, troubleshoots experimental protocols, and adjusts methodology to attain desired results
  • Prepare abstracts, research reports, and presentations under the direction of the PI
  • Present research results at laboratory meetings, scientific conferences and other related events
  • Provides guidance, training and oversight of summer students and graduate students
  • Work effectively with other laboratory staff, industry partners, and collaborators
  • PhD in Animal Nutrition, Animal Science or a similar field
  • Experience in animal handling and care
  • Willingness to work with pigs
