Job Description

At IAG, we’re ready for you. We're the largest general insurance group in Australia and New Zealand. Our family of brands turns the IAG purpose of making your world a safer place into action by helping everyday Aussies and New Zealanders, supporting their ambitions and making insurance accessible.

Step into a role where you don’t just manage a platform — you elevate one. As our Apptio Platform Specialist, you’ll take full responsibility for the Apptio ecosystem, owning the roadmap, prioritising the backlog, and guiding every configuration that keeps the platform modern, valuable, and trusted across the business. You’ll become the champion for Apptio users, coordinating training, creating engaging support materials, and leading onboarding experiences that build confidence and drive widespread adoption. Your work will strengthen the platform’s impact by improving data quality, evolving the data model, and integrating Apptio seamlessly with systems like ServiceNow, ERP, and CMDB.

In this role, you’ll work closely with Finance, Technology, and Business teams to translate organisational changes — from chartofaccounts updates to new dashboard needs — into enhancements that keep Apptio aligned and powerful. You’ll also manage the relationship with our vendor partners, overseeing renewals, upgrades, and support to ensure the platform stays innovative and well-supported.

This is your opportunity to sit at the centre of technology, finance, and strategy — shaping how we understand cost, invest intelligently, and run a more efficient and transparent organisation.

This permanent role, offers a flexible hybrid work model and open for applications in Gadigal Country (Sydney).

  • Engage with Finance, Technology, and Business teams to get inputs on changes to Apptio’s configuration (e.g., change to IAG’s chart of accounts Service catalogue, development of new dashboards)

  • Manage the relationship with the vendor, including contract renewals, support cases & upgrades.

  • Translate business requirements into functional/technical specifications.

  • Undertake configuration of the Apptio platform and/or work with the vendor or internal developers to implement technical changes to the platform.

What You'll Bring

  • Strong understanding of Technology Business Management (TBM) principles and familiarity with Apptio or similar platforms.

  • Demonstrated product management or business analysis experience in SaaS or enterprise application environments.

  • Proven experience in managing cost within a technology divisions / company.

  • Knowledge of data modelling, cost allocation, and financial reporting within IT environments. • Strong communication skills – both technical and business-facing.

  • 5–7 years’ experience in IT, Finance Systems, Product Management, or Business Analysis roles, preferably in complex or global environments.

  • Ideally 2 years’ experience with Apptio or comparable tools (e.g., Nicus, ServiceNow Financial Management); TBM or Apptio certifications are highly desirable.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance, Technology, or Engineering.

  • Strong knowledge of Agile and DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, version control, and production support.

  • Exposure to metadata management, data lineage, privacy controls, and assurance tooling is highly desirable.

  • Experience with DBT, data cataloguing tools, and maintaining end-to-end traceability across regulatory submissions will be well regarded.

  • Able to manage competing priorities, work effectively under pressure, and operate confidently in fast paced regulatory environments.
