Position:Hospital Foreman (Mechanical)

Pay:HK$23,725 to HK$30,244 (HGPS point 7 - 11) per month including Monthly Allowance
  Up to 15% of total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered to contract staff upon completion of the contract subject to satisfactory performance.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Working under the directive of Cluster Manager (Hospital & Planning & Facility Management) and assisting the Senior Managers, Managers, Assistant Managers, Works Supervisors and/or hospital General Manager (Administrative Services) in administering and managing the Operation & Maintenance (O&M) of the local hospital building services engineering facilities and their related functions/services in New Territories East Cluster (NTEC); Major duties are listed hereunder, but not limited to:

  1. Assist in the implementation and management of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

  2. Take charge of respective Operation & Maintenance (O&M) gang comprised with technical staff (Artisans and Operation Assistant Is) in carrying out operation, planned and corrective maintenance of all mechanical installations/systems including boiler plant, plumbing and medical gas pipeline system, combined heat and power system etc. as well as other building services installations, systems and equipment;

  3. Prepare O&M schedules and maintain O&M records for engineering plant and equipment.

  4. Procure spare parts for plant and equipment and maintain inventory record. 

  5. Attend and witness handover and commissioning works for new installations and equipment.

  6. Assist in preparing drawings and specifications for alteration / renovation works. 

  7. Liaise and coordinate with Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD), relevant contractors, government departments and hospital user departments in handling maintenance / alteration / renovation works.

  8. Assist in the monitoring of O&M services provided by EMSD and other Works Agents. 

  9. Perform on-call and emergency duties and to work in shifts / irregular working hours when required.

  10. Carry out other duties as required or assigned by supervisors.

Entry Requirements:

  1. (a) 3 years' satisfactory service in the HA; OR
    (b) 2 years’ supervisory experience in hospitals, hotels, cleansing service, facilities management or other related services/ industries.
  2. Have shown the potential to lead and supervise staff.

Preferred Attributes/Exposure: 

  1. Certificate or above in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or equivalent

  2. At least 2 years’ practical experience in mechanical installations field at the position of Operation Assistant I/ Operation Assistant II / Senior Artisan / Artisan is an advantage.

  3. Obtained valid Certificate of Competency for Operation of Class I(A) – Water-tube Boilers or Class II/Class II(A) – Fire-tube Boilers issued by Labour Department.

  4. Obtained Grade A or Grade B of Registered Electrical Worker issued by EMSD.

  5. Obtained valid Construction Industry Safety Training Certificate. (Green card).

  6. Relevant trade test certificate issued by Construction Industry Council Training Academy (CICTA) or by the Vocational Training Council (VTC) in a relevant trade.

  7. Has formal training in occupational safety and health is an advantage.

  8. Knowledge of AutoCAD and other common office automation (e.g. e-mail, internet/intranet, word processor, excel etc.) and PC applications.

  9. Good inter-personal communication and presentation skill.

  10. Responsible, self-motivated and able to work independently under minimum supervision.

  11. Outgoing, able to work under pressure and stressful situation, including crises.
