The Country Management Unit (CMU) for Africa East Central East Countries 2 (AECE2), includes Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Somalia. The AECE2 CMU Office is in Nairobi, Kenya, and covers the Kenya and Somalia, Offices. The World Bank Kenya Country Office and Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Hub are seeking a multimedia professional with a background in communication and content creation to serve as an Extended-Term Consultant (ETC), based in Nairobi, Kenya. The World Bank’s program in Kenya comprises a large and active portfolio of operations, including projects and programs financed through credits and grants from the International Development Association (IDA), IBRD, and Trust Funds (TFs), and strong pipeline of knowledge products and technical assistance. Duties and accountabilities: The Extended-Term Consultant (ETC) will deliver comprehensive communications support, both internally and externally, across three portfolios: Kenya Country Office, Somalia Country Office, and the Regional Vice Presidents (RVP) Office. This position involves ongoing collaboration with all World Bank Group operational and administrative units within these offices. The consultant will report to the Operations Manager and follow strategic communications guidance from the Senior External Affairs Officer. 1) Execution of social media plans The consultant will assist the External Affairs team in managing multiple social media platforms across the three portfolios. Responsibilities include creating and publishing content for World Bank Kenya’s Twitter/X and Facebook accounts, with an emphasis on increasing engagement by highlighting success stories, sharing knowledge reports, announcing project launches, and promoting key milestones. 2) Curation of digital content The consultant will create engaging audio-visual materials and infographics designed for social media and World Bank Group webpages. This includes producing data visualizations, campaign graphics, promotional materials for events, and storytelling content that highlights development impact. 3) Risk monitoring and social listening The consultant will prepare and share a daily media monitoring report using credible news sources to track mentions of the World Bank Group, assess the tone of coverage, and identify emerging issues. Additionally, the consultant will monitor social media discussions about the World Bank Group, analyze sentiment, and promptly alert the CMU and ECR teams to any significant posts or trends. 4) Country office intranet management The consultant will be responsible for managing and actively promoting the Country Office (CO) intranet. Key duties include keeping content up to date, ensuring information is organized and easy for all staff to access, regularly updating and restructuring intranet pages as necessary, and encouraging KCO staff to make full use of the intranet platform. 5) Feedback tracking The consultant will be responsible for monitoring the [email protected] public email account, promptly forwarding complaints to the relevant teams, tracking responses and providing timely, professional responses to general inquiries. 6) Video and photo production The consultant will deliver audio visual production services for the RVP, Kenya, and Somalia country offices. Responsibilities include maintaining a well-organized, regularly updated collection of images and video footage for reports, social media, and institutional communications. The consultant will also develop short videos for social media use. The consultant will also assist with logistics and communications for both internal and external events across all three offices. Additional tasks assigned by the Senior Operations Manager and Senior External Affairs Officer will be included as part of this role.
