Key Accountabilities
Operational leadership for global logistics category delivery
Ensure stable, efficient and high-quality execution of end-to-end global category management activities for logistics including all modes of shipments & warehouses across all OS&S operations within the service scope across regions
Translate process requirements, SLAs and KPIs into clear operational targets and team objectives for the logistics category team
Manage capacity, workload allocation and prioritization across the Global Logistics Category team
Oversee global logistics category service performance and manage escalations related to category strategy failures, sourcing delays, supplier disputes, contractual deviations or governance breaches
Ensure consistent implementation of global logistics category strategies
Implementation of process design and standards
Ensure the implementation of process design, procedures and controls defined by the Global Process Owner and S2C Service Line Process Management in the operational line for logistics category
Ensure adherence to global standards, work instructions, templates and control frameworks in day-to-day execution across the logistics portfolios
Drive adherence to compliance standards including purchasing policies, delegation of authority, audit requirements and contract governance specific to Logistics sourcing
Ensure alignment between operational delivery and global logistics category strategy and execution process architecture across all regions
Performance, quality and continuous improvement
Monitor strategic KPIs, operational SLAs and control indicators for the global logistics category and initiate corrective and preventive actions where required
Provide structured feedback to process management on feasibility, operational pain points and improvement opportunities observed in global logistics strategy definition and execution
Support the rollout of new or updated process designs, systems, tools and templates into the operational line for global logistics
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance sourcing efficiency, contract accuracy, process stability and compliance maturity within the global logistics category scope
Category governance and strategic alignment
Define and uphold a robust global logistics category governance framework including global processes, controls, decision rights, segmentation rules and governance routines
Consolidate global logistics category performance metrics and strategic reporting to enable transparency and executive-level insights across the portfolio
Ensure alignment of regional logistics category roadmaps and sourcing initiatives to ensure global consistency, strategic coherence and optimized cross-regional synergies
Ensure implementation of the global logistics category strategy across all regions and escalate deviation risks to regional leadership where required
Support the VP Global Procurement with data-driven insights, strategic recommendations and structured preparation for global and stream-level decisions related to logistics
Team leadership and people development
Lead and develop a team of Global Category Leads within the global logistics operational line — comprising the Global Raw Material Category Lead and the Global Logistics Category Lead
Foster a culture of collaboration, performance and continuous learning aligned with Omya's values
Ensure training, certification pathways and professional development opportunities to grow strategic global logistics category management capability
Strengthen knowledge sharing, methodology alignment and collaboration across the global logistics category team
Stakeholder management and communication
Collaborate closely with the Vice President Global Procurement and Process Management teams to ensure alignment between operational delivery and process strategy for global logistics
Engage with key stakeholders across Finance, Supply Chain, HR, Sales and other OS&S service lines to enable coordinated service delivery and cross-functional integration
Act as primary global point of contact for executive stakeholders regarding global logistics category performance, risks, opportunities and strategic initiatives
Steer cross-regional collaboration with Global Category Leads and functionally with Regional Category Managers and commercial stakeholders to ensure unified global logistics category execution
Experience
Minimum 8–10 years of relevant working experience in an operational or function‑related position
Experience in sourcing railway transportation (particularly in North America), as well as road, waterway, and warehousing services across all regions.
Significant experience in leading teams and managing complex, multi‑location operational environments
Knowledge and skills
Global category governance framework design with specific focus on global logistics markets
Category management and methodology development for logistics sourcing
Global sourcing capability coaching and guidance
Strong understanding of sourcing, procurement policies, negotiation frameworks, and contracting processes in global logistics (all modes including warehousing)
Proficiency in procurement systems (e.g., SAP MM, eProcurement, contract management tools)
Ability to evaluate supplier performance, analyze commercial data, and assess sourcing risks within logistics markets
Cross-functional collaboration with Procurement, Legal, Finance, and business stakeholders
High attention to detail for contract documents, negotiation records, and approval workflows
Knowledge of compliance and legal requirements related to logistics sourcing, supplier data, and contract handling
Ability to manage confidential commercial information and sensitive supplier negotiations
Experience in analyzing procurement performance metrics, negotiation outcomes, and sourcing effectiveness
Solid understanding of category management principles, supplier markets, and cost-driver structures specific to global logistics
Ability to interpret procurement KPIs, dashboards, and analytics outputs using Excel or BI tools
Competence in managing sourcing workstreams, coordinating inputs, and aligning stakeholders across functions
Basic understanding of contractual terms, commercial clauses, service levels, and supplier risk indicators
Knowledge of supplier relationship management practices, governance routines, and escalation handling
Excellent command of both oral and written English
Willingness to travel depending on organizational setup
