Rank: Building Surveyor / Engineer
Department/Cluster: Facility Management Department/ Kowloon East Cluster
Pay: HK$71,118 to HK$140,903 per month (including Monthly Allowance) [HMPS point 3 – 19]
Up to 15% of total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered to contract staff upon completion of the contract subject to satisfactory performance
Key Responsibilities:
The appointee will be responsible for the following main duties:
1. Plan and oversee the overall periodic building inspection for existing public hospitals and institutions.
2. Provide professional support to hospitals on the preparation and development of inspection schedule including stratification and analysis for risk areas/ blackspots.
3. Monitor and manage the progress of inspection and acting as Registered Inspector to ensure the quality and standard of inspection.
4. Prepare, sign and submit inspection report with proper record.
5. Oversee and manage compliance of statutory requirements/ordinances as well as internal guidelines and procedures with respect to facility management, building engineering operation and maintenance services.
6. Manage and assess the inspection results, as well as arrange and supervise subsequent repair works.
7. Oversee the transition and development of in-house building inspection team for implementation of periodic building inspection.
8. Facilitate smooth interface between respective hospitals, government departments and other stakeholders.
9. Perform other related duties as required and assigned by supervisor(s). |
Requirements
1. Member / Corporate Member of a professional institution, i.e. the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors, Hong Kong Institution of Engineers in Structural disciplines or equivalent.
2. For applicants in the discipline of surveyors, at least 1 year’s appropriate post-qualification experience.
3. A Registered Inspector in the Inspectors’ Register kept by the Building Authority.
Preferred Attributes
1. Considerable experience in handling public works projects and building inspection and maintenance works.
2. Conversant with Hong Kong construction and building related legislations and government procedures and policies on building inspection and maintenance such as the Mandatory Building Inspection Scheme (MBIS).
3. Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Chinese, with good presentation skills.
4. A high degree of self-motivation and strong organizational ability.
5. Knowledge of MS Office, project management and database software.
