Medical Technologist (Haematology and Blood Bank)
Job Description
Department/ Cluster: Pathology Department, Kowloon East Cluster
Pay: HK$60,488 to HK$87,341 (HGPS point 25 to 33) per month including Monthly Allowance
Up to 15% of total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered to contract staff upon completion of the contract subject to satisfactory performance.
Key Responsibility:
1. Conduct and exercise quality control on routine and special medical laboratory tests and examinations in haematology and blood bank.
2. Take charge of a section of a large medical laboratory, and perform shift duties including 24 hours’ shift duties in Blood Bank and Emergency laboratory.
3. Participate in method and instrument evaluation.
4. Comply and maintain all quality system essentials such as competency, training, assessment and internal audit.
5. Assist SMT in the management of the Haematology laboratory and Blood Bank.
6. Train laboratory staff.
Entry Requirements:
1. Be a registered Part I (full registration) Medical Laboratory Technologist and have a valid Practicing Certificate under the Allied Health Professions Ordinance.
2. At least 5 years' experience in medical laboratory services.
Preferred Attributes / Exposure:
1. MSc in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent.

2. Contribution to professional development including research, teaching and training.
3. Experience in Haematology & Blood Bank shift duties, test validation and verification of Haematology analyzers in recent three years.
4. Experience in special haematology such as special coagulation testing and haemoglobin studies in recent three years.
5. Experience in molecular testing.
6. Participated in test development and method validation of Laboratory Automation System.
7. Experience in setting up of new test in LIS setting.
8. Communication skill.
9. Empathy.
10. Commitment to patient care.
11. Leadership.
12. Interpersonal skills.
13. Good understanding of laboratory accreditation standards, with previous involvement in the quality assurance / management of the laboratory e.g. HOKLAS / CIHA accreditation.
